"Sometimes when I look at all my children, I say to myself, 'Lillian, you should have stayed a virgin.'" -- Lillian Carter, at the 1980 Democratic Convention, where her son was nominated for a second term as US President
Some days as a mother pass by in a blur. We feel overextended, underappreciated, resentful, and then guilty, (for any and all of our feelings)! Oh my...what an intense range of emotions we can feel! Just when you feel like you can't take anymore, and wonder why in heavens name you did this to yourself...again, (I mean, didn't you remember the first time around, when you were in a near stupor with a toddler in tow), you look over and see this!
Oh the JOY!!!!
As mothers we are all united...in our big wide range of emotions. Our days go from JOY, patience, anger, creativity, boundless energy, extreme tired, and on and on! We are never ever alone in our journey as mothers, just think, somewhere in this beautiful world of ours, there is a mother feeling the very same way, and somewhere in history there is a woman who wiped her brow feeling the same frustration, happiness, and LOVE that we feel when we see these little faces looking up at us!
We deserve a good, hardy pat on the back for being mothers...for nurturing and loving these precious little people in our lives!
"A mother is a person who seeing there are only four pieces of pie for five people, promptly announces she never did care for pie." -- Tenneva Jordan
With love and respect for you mothers out there...past, present and future
Happy weekend!

This was timely...I had one of these days yesterday and felt awful at the end of the day for the two times I raised my voice...instead of congratulating myself for spending most of the day in love and patience!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, I read this blog just at the right time! I was up all night with a feverish baby, and am feeling down and extremely exhausted. Thanks for lifting my spirits!

ugh, wow, thank you.....I've been having one of those months!!!
ReplyDeletethanks for the mama love! it is the hardest work i have ever done, but certainly the most rewarding. congrats on the giveaways!!! looks like you won some beautiful gifts. ;) have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteI had to many of "those days" in the past month as well. And it's amazing how guilty we can feel for just a few things when we should really congratulate ourselves for not loosing it sooner, lol. It's always nice to hear that we are not alone, all other mamas go through the same thing.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to make sure to go check out those links you gave, you can never get too much inspiration! So many great blogs out there!

I've had one of those days today..until I read this. Thank you for reminding me I'm not alone. You are right..at the end of the day all that matters is that you did your job, and those little faces prove you are doing it right ;)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. I have an award for you!

ReplyDelete...she is a little prize in herself - lucky mamma you are indeed :)
ReplyDeleteIt feels so good to be reminded that all mothers have these emotions at moments. :)
ReplyDeleteglad you're enjoying! what a sweet picture! & thanks for those first words. it's so comforting not to be alone in mom-hood. it can be difficult territory...
ReplyDeleteThank you mammas...before I took those pictures of Matilda I was just watching the clock, praying that pappa gets home soon, because I was DONE...then the smiles, and the silly faces started as she perched on that windowsill, and my frustration just dissolved!
ReplyDeleteWe're all in this crazy swirl together! Thank you for letting me know that I'm not alone either!!

oh...and really DO go check out those blog links ladies...some great blogs out there!!!
Thanks for this - I'm at that stage with my toddler where some days I'm wondering why I am doing all of this (and I'm 6 weeks away from baby #2). But I know that feeling, after a day of tantrums and heartache all of a sudden she changes her mood and is all smiles and makes me laugh.
ReplyDeleteI am in love with that new blog! No, I had never seen it before and can now see what I was missing out on!!! I am now a follower of both you and her! Thanks!
