Magic in Motherhood...

I could have never known while pregnant with my first child, the complex and rich journey I was about to embark upon. Motherhood has become my greatest teacher, my hardest job and the joy that lights my life. Since my girls were babes, through sleepless nights, moments of AHHH... I'm losing it and trying to stay connected to my own needs ~ they always have a way to reveal the beauty in why each hard step is so worth it.

 This past birthday they had me saturated with that love and awe ~ filled with deep gratitude for these little people that grace my life.

The morning of my birthday they disappeared into our craft room and asked that I keep out. They occasionally peaked out and asked for a small bit of help but for over an hour the house was quiet and I waited to see what they were up to.

When they finally came out we decided to go out for a birthday lunch.

After we arrived they each presented me with their gifts. I was so moved. Moved by the joy and pride bursting out of them to offer me their gift. Moved that this was one of those precious moments that the tables had turned and they were taking care of me.

Her gift was a purse she had sewn herself ~ adorned with flowers (glued on by the big sis)

Complete with a "crown" ~ which she insisted I wear throughout lunch!

They made my day. 

I see how this big job of being a mama holds so many unexpected magical gifts. 

Through all the hard days we may have and through all the tough times that may evolve on our journey, the unexpected moments of fierce full love are always around the next corner.

We give to them and they give to us ~ it is a full circle.
