Yay! I can finally participate in the Yarn Along again!!!! I'm working on a hat for my mother right now...I haven't decided yet if it's an ugly hat or not, but I'm too far in to turn back! Please tell me what you think!
(and be honest...I can take it)! I need to know, because if enough people think it's ugly I will start anew and knit my mother another hat.
And to make sure I don't succumb to total mommy brain I'm reading "I Am Nujood, Age 10 and Divorced"...I'm only a few pages in, but so far I'm hooked.
I just finished a wonderful book last week called "ROOM"...by Emma Donoghue...oh my goodness...what a strangely terrific book! Do check it out if you get the chance, (I'd post a picture of it but it was due back at the library yesterday!)
Ahhhh...knitting and reading...I think I'm in LOVE!

I don't think it's ugly at all!
ReplyDeleteI'm knitting a hat for my mom right now too, striped and I'm sooo hoping it won't be ugly either! I really like the blue of your yarn, and I think older people like neutral shades like the cream. I mean, she might not wear a whole hat of the blue like I would but she'll love the stripe of it. Does that make sense? lol! I hope so!
ReplyDeleteI don't think it's ugly! My mom would like it, I think. That book looks very interesting, too! I think I might be enjoying seeing what everyone is reading more than all the knitting, if that's possible.
ReplyDeleteI have been wanting to knit a hat for my mom as well, any good patterns to recommend?
ReplyDeletewarmly,
christina
i bet your mother would love anything you knit for her!
ReplyDeleteI don't think the hat is ugly.
ReplyDeleteHave to agree though that reading and knitting are two wonderful things.
I gotta get on the yarn along!! I just had my my baby so it may have to wait till' next year :(

Ya know, if you're not happy with it, you could always turn it into a felted bowl (assuming it's wool). But I'm with Amanda, I think your mom will love it.
ReplyDeleteMuch love...
I've been curious about that book. It's on my list to read and I've just never gotten around to it. Books in a similar vein that I enjoyed were Lipstick Jihad and Kabul Beauty School. I hope you let us know what you think of the book after you finish!
ReplyDeleteooh! glad you joined the yarn along! i will take the hat if your mom thinks it's ugly. lol... the books sound interesting. must have a look.
ReplyDeleteI don't think your hat is ugly either :) Both of your books sound very interesting! I must check and see if our library has them :)
ReplyDeleteI'm not into toque style hats, but I don't think the colours are ugly. I really like the blue. Besides, like the other ladies have said, moms like whatever we make them :) Just like we like the offerings from our little people.
ReplyDeleteThe hat is NOT ugly, I think my Mom would love it if I knit the exact hat for her!
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of the book, but even the title is intriguing.
The hat looks just lovely - that books looks especially good.
ReplyDeleteHi! I'm a new entry of your blog :)
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful, so rich of ideas simple to carry out.
Thank you for sharing.
And your hat isn't ungly! I like its colors ;)
Have you a nice day!
Bye

Thank you ladies! You've saved me ALOT of work...I finished off the hat last night! The book...I'm halfway through...a painful yet, tremendous read.
