Yarn Along

Knitting has become my favourite winter pastime...and since I had that lesson in how to knit a scrap cardigan, every spare moment has been spent knitting my heart out!  I'm making it for Matilda, (in a size 4), thought I'd start out small.  My second project is a scarf...this is the second one I've done in this style...the technique was taught to me by my good friend over at Wabi-Sabi Wanderings.  On size 10 needles this knits up FAST!!  In fact I should be done it, except...well, you understand...I've got this scrap cardigan on my mind!  The scarf is on the left and the scrap is on the right...and in between it all is some beautiful yarn I picked up yesterday...oh the possibilities!!!

And when we have a spare moment around here that doesn't involve knitting.  The books!  I have one chapter left in the Elizabeth Lesser book.  I spoke about it a few weeks back...it was recommended to me by Shanti, and it really is a beautiful, life affirming book.  I also started another book, (is it becoming fairly obvious that I'm a multi-tasker)?!  I'm also reading "Bitter Fruit" by Achmat Dangor.

Ruby is re-reading a book we just received from an old friend.  It's called "Widzer's Visit" by Jenny Panda.  It's about a wizard named Widzer who is travelling about trying to get to his family for a visit.  He has many adventures along the way, (and meets many fantastical friends).  I think it would appeal to many of you mamas out there who enjoy stories with elements of magic!  At the back of the book there are craft ideas and other suggestions for word games.  You can find it right HERE if you want a copy of your own.

Now, head on over to small things to visit some of the other fabulous Yarn Along links!

  11. The sweater looks great Maureen. Can't wait to see it finished. I've been thinking about a sock course and have found a pattern that I think would be great for new knitters. I just have to make it up myself to see how long it will take. I'd need to 'borrow' a location though. Just a thought.

Beautiful, colourful yarn always inspires me to get out my knitting needles and just knit away.

  17. MJ...I'm sure if you send an e-mail to the shop they'd ship to the US. I think it would be appropriate for a 6 yr old...my daughter is 7 and she just loved it!
