My kitchen chairs were in desperate need of an overhaul.
We've had these IKEA chairs for years and years,
(I bet some of you have the EXACT same chairs in your house),
ours were very well loved!
My daughter suggested RAINBOW chairs…we had 6 after all…plus it would be perfect, she said!
I had to think about this for a few minutes, until she reminded me that the house is FULL
of gnomes and toadstools…"Why NOT rainbows?"!!
she had a point!
Here is our step by step…the end result is so much fun!
Take one IKEA kitchen chair…we've had these for years and years…they have been SO well loved…you can't really see in the picture, but it's stained with food, coffee, paint and god knows what else!!
Get out your sander and sand…I used my orbital sander for this step with a 150 grit sandpaper.
You don't have to sand all the finish off, just rough it up.
Then using a spray paint primer, prime those babies!!
I made sure I did a thorough job on the parts that would be sat upon, roughed up…I wasn't so
fussy on the bottoms.
(Needless to say, do all your painting in a well ventilated area…like OUTSIDE for example)!
Next again, using spray paint, spray each chair a colour of the rainbow.
My boyfriend taught me a neat trick…if you don't want drips, spray in short spurts,
(instead of a continuous stream of spray paint)
I love using spray paint for furniture…it's fast, easy, durable and looks fantastic!!
(we passed inspection)!
And ENJOY!!!! Seriously…who wouldn't!!??
